Experiential learning in doctoral training programmes: fostering personal epistemology through collaboration

There has been increasing recognition for the need to reform doctoral training practices to foster students’ personal epistemology. This study describes the design and evaluation of a learning experience designed to help students understand the scholarly publication process. Firstly, this study discusses the design of the learning experience, describing the collaborative process of writing an interdisciplinary publication using both online and face-to-face learning. Secondly, this study evaluates the effectiveness of the learning experience by examining students’ reflections. We show that participation in the learning experience helped students to develop their academic writing proficiency, collaboration and teamwork, intercultural competence, and ability to engage in reflective practice. Importantly, we show that each student also created more individualised knowledge, gaining insight into how they and others think. This study, therefore, demonstrates that personal epistemology can be fostered through collaboration in a doctoral writing group context.  相似文献

Students’ educational use of Facebook groups

The aim of the article is to explore educational use of student-managed Facebook groups in upper secondary education (in Denmark). Much research on educational potentials of Facebook has studied groups managed by teachers. However, there is a lack of in-depth research on Facebook groups managed by students and without participation from teachers. As this study shows, students’ use of student-managed groups differs from their use of teacher-managed tools such as learning management systems (LMSs). The article presents an empirical study based partly on a content analysis of 3139 posts and 15,018 replies within five Facebook groups, and partly on a questionnaire answered by 1463 students and 148 teachers. The results of the study show that whereas LMSs were seen by students primarily as institutional systems of the teacher, Facebook groups have an educational potential to be used by students for peer-to-peer learning.  相似文献

This work deals with the power exponent r1 and r2 respectively of the maximal and second-maximal prime factors ofthe order of simple K4-group, and the classification for simple {5,7}′-K4-group G (i.e. ｜G｜ can not be divided by 5 nor by 7 or ｜π(G)｜ = 4 ), simple 5′ -K4-group G (i.e. ｜G｜ can not divided by 5 and ｜π(G)｜ =4) and simple 7′-Ea-group G (i.e. ｜G｜ can notdivided by 7 and ｜π(G)｜ =4). It is derived that r1 =1, 2 and 4, and r2 is not greater than 4. All the simple K4-groups with order 2^a3^b5^cp^d, 2^a3^b7^cp^d and 2^a3^b5^c7^d are obtained.  相似文献
