This paper presents a classifier for text data samples consisting of main text and additional components, such as Web pages and technical papers. We focus on multiclass and single-labeled text classification problems and design the classifier based on a hybrid composed of probabilistic generative and discriminative approaches. Our formulation considers individual component generative models and constructs the classifier by combining these trained models based on the maximum entropy principle. We use naive Bayes models as the component generative models for the main text and additional components such as titles, links, and authors, so that we can apply our formulation to document and Web page classification problems. Our experimental results for four test collections confirmed that our hybrid approach effectively combined main text and additional components and thus improved classification performance.  相似文献

The players' ability to achieve the greatest distance in kicking is determined by their efficiency in transferring kinetic energy from the body to the ball. The purpose of this study was to compare the kinetics and kinematics of the plant leg position between male and female collegiate soccer players during instep kicking. Twenty-three soccer players (11 males and 12 females) were filmed in both the sagittal and posterior views while performing a maximal instep kick. Plant leg kinetic data were also collected using an AMTI 1000 force platform. There were no significant differences between the sexes in plant leg position, but females had significantly greater trunk lean, plant leg angle, and medial-lateral ground reaction force than the males. Males showed higher vertical ground reaction forces at ball contact, but there were no significant differences in ball speed at take-off between the sexes. Ball speed at take-off was inversely related to peak anterior-posterior ground reaction force (-0.65). The anatomical differences between the sexes were reflected in greater trunk lean and lower leg angle in the females.  相似文献

Ranking is a central component in information retrieval systems; as such, many machine learning methods for building rankers have been developed in recent years. An open problem is transfer learning, i.e. how labeled training data from one domain/market can be used to build rankers for another. We propose a flexible transfer learning strategy based on sample selection. Source domain training samples are selected if the functional relationship between features and labels do not deviate much from that of the target domain. This is achieved through a novel application of recent advances from density ratio estimation. The approach is flexible, scalable, and modular. It allows many existing supervised rankers to be adapted to the transfer learning setting. Results on two datasets (Yahoo’s Learning to Rank Challenge and Microsoft’s LETOR data) show that the proposed method gives robust improvements.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to examine the effect of bilateral asymmetry of muscle strength on maximal height of the squat jump. A computer simulation technique was used to develop two kinds of 3D human lower limb musculoskeletal model (model-symmetry and model-asymmetry). The total muscle strength of the two models was set to be identical. Bilateral muscle strength was equal in the model-symmetry simulation, while the model-asymmetry simulation was performed with a 10% bilateral strength asymmetry. A forward dynamics approach was used to simulate squat jumps. The squat jumps were successfully generated, producing jump heights of 0.389 m for model-symmetry and 0.387 m for model-asymmetry. The small difference in height (0.5%) indicated that the effect of the 10% bilateral asymmetry of muscle strength on jump height is negligible. With model-asymmetry, the strong leg compensated for the muscle strength deficit of the weak leg. Importantly, the mono-articular and large extensor muscles of the hip and knee joint of the strong leg, including the gluteus maximus, adductor magnus, and vasti, compensated for the muscle strength deficit of the weak leg.  相似文献
