| Abstract: | The paper discusses the controversial issues in Chen Duxiu studies with emphases on the different ideas and the causes that account for the controversy.The issues in question include Chen Duxiu's status in the movement of new democratic culture,"formalism" and the "overall struggle against traditions",whether he had become a Marxist,the role he played in the founding of the Chinese Communist Party,"theory of a second revolution" and the rightist line,his responsibility for the failure of the great revolution,the issue of the Trotskyite,political ideas in his later years and evaluation of his life and so on. |
