| 摘 要： | 帕特·巴克在《越界》里刻画了一仑因“性无能”而面临“男子气概”缺失的心理医生汤姆。通过对汤姆在两性性关系里困窘而尴尬的生活的描写，巴克揭示了现代英国社会高度发达的物质文明对男性阳刚之气的威胁和解构，并提出了“男子气概”重新建构的可能性。

| Abstract: | Pat Barker, in her Border Crossing, portrays a psychotherapist Tom who suffers from the loss of “masculinity” because of his “sexual impotence”. By depicting the destitute and embarrassing life of Tom in his relationship with females, Barker reveals the threat and the deconstruction of the highly developed material civilization to the masculinity of males and advances the possibility of reconstructing males＇ “masculinity”. |
