| 摘 要： | 以社会语言学和符号学为基础的社会符号学翻译法，强调翻译是一种跨语言、跨文化、跨社会的交际活动。翻译的过程就是在译语中寻求功能对等的过程，在意义和功能上最大限度忠实于原语。习语是相当独特的语言表达方式，具有文化特殊性，常常成为翻译的一个难点。从社会符号学的角度，以《红楼梦》杨译本为倒，从语义三角关系，语言符号的意义及其功能方面探讨汉语习语英译的功能对等。

| Abstract: | In the socio - semiotic model, translation is approached as a cross - linguistic, cross - cultural and cross - social communicative activity. The process of translation is perceived as one of establishing functional equivalence between the source text and the target text, in order for the latter to be as faithful as possible to the former in both meaning and function. Idioms are expressions with specially - cultural meanings, which are often obstacles in translation. From the perspective of Semiotics and taking A Dream of Red Mansions as an example, the paper explores functional equivalence of Chinese idioms in Semantic Triangle, the meaning of linguistic signs as well as their functions. |
