梅贻琦与竺可桢通才教育观之比较

摘    要:在近代中国,作为大学校长,梅贻琦与竺可桢都是通才教育的倡导者,但在"通才"内涵上,梅贻琦倾向于培养"全才",竺可桢倾向于培养"宏才"。在"通"和"专"的重要性上,梅贻琦主张"通"重于"专",竺可桢主张"通""专"并重。在导师制的建构上,两人都认为教授既要指导学生的学业,也要引领学生的人格。梅贻琦倡导导师制不仅理念先行,而且实践先行。竺可桢实施的导师制则体现了体系化、民主化和细节化的特点。梅贻琦和竺可桢的通才教育观体现了时代高度,立足中华优秀传统文化,渗透着独特的办学理念,对我国当前人才培养具有重要启示。

Abstract:As the university presidents in modern China, Mei Yiqi and Zhu Kezhen were both advocates of general education. At the aspect of the connotation, Mei Yiqi tended to cultivate "all-rounder", comparing with Zhu Kezhen’s "leader";at the aspect of the importance of "general education" and "professional education", Mei Yiqi advocated that "general education" was more important than "professional education", while Zhu Kezhen thought both were important;In the construction of the tutorial system, they both thought that the professor can not only teach, but also lead their students’ personality. Mei Yiqi regarded the tutorial system was the idea as well as the practice;while Zhu Kezhen treated it as the system with such characteristics as systematization, democratization and detailing. Their ideas reflected the height of the times with the foundation of the splendid Chinese culture, and infiltrated their unique concepts of school-running, which offered the important revelation for cultivating talents nowadays.
