Despite hopes and claims about benefits of computer-assisted language learning, few studies have documented actual cases about how American students learn elementary Chinese in a computer-equipped classroom. Code-switching between English and Chinese usually occurs in students’ talk when they are involved in taking communicative language activities in college English class. This paper studies the situations in which students are likely to use codeswitching and analyzes it from the perspective of the mental world in Verscheren’s Adaptation Theory. It shows that inadequate mastery of English language, cultural differences and the improper adjustment to context may lead to students’ using of codeswitching. It also shows that the use of code-switching in students’ talk adapts to students’ cognitive elements and emotive elements as well. 相似文献

Linguistics is a necessary course for English-majors because it plays an important role in second language learning, teaching and research. It is significant, yet difficult to make this course comprehensible and interesting and get the students involved in and attracted by it. This paper intends to analyze and explore teachers’ roles in the course of linguistics from the following aspects: as an explainer, as an activator, as a co-learner, as a question-finder and as an enabler. Some examples are taken to show how to make use of comparison, contrast, instance, discussion, and practice for classroom management. Vocabulary acquisition is increasingly viewed as crucial to language acquisition.Meanwhile,learning vocabulary is often perceived as a tedious and laborious process.Chinese students usually feel bored in vocabulary lessons because they have not changed their learning habits,such as writing word on paper,trying to learn by heart.To help students find vocabulary lessons more interesting,we can use games.This paper analyses the traditional method of teaching vocabulary is not effective,whereas there are some advantages of using games,such as,games bring in fun,games are motivating and create context for language use and then gives two examples of applying games in my vocabulary teaching.Students prefer games and puzzles.Games motivate and entertain students but also help them memorize and recall the material easily.The conclusion is that learning vocabulary through the games is an effective and interesting means which should be used in any classrooms. 相似文献

Students have long regarded science as a difficult subject because of hard and abstract concepts. Traditional science teaching has been depended mostly on visual instruction. This makes it difficult for visually impaired （VI） or partially sighted students included in regular classrooms to learn the concepts. Blind students on the other hand, have no visual input at all. They need to learn using other senses such as touching and hearing. Classrooms should be adapted and instruction should be adjusted for better science teaching to VI students. The purpose of this study was to investigate how VI students learn science. The results of the data obtained via interviews and observations revealed that VI students need instructional and environmental accommodations to learn science. They need more tactual and audio experiences than visual instruction. Suggestions and implications about teaching science to students with visual impairments are discussed. 相似文献
