To study the explicit organizational knowledge pattern of an education and research institute is a tedious process as it deals with multiple subjects. Also, many qualitative and quantitative indicators such as peer review process, awards and honors received by the constitute members of the institute, national and international grants, and different types of publications can be considered to study the pattern followed in different disciplines over a period of time. Not all of these indicators will be giving the same message, and the choice of which one to select will depend on the type of research being evaluated. In this study to analyze explicit organizational knowledge, publications of Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in different disciplines over a span of 10 years from 1996 to 2005 are considered as given in the multidisciplinary database SCOPUS using correspondence analysis and cluster analysis.

According to correspondence analysis, the study indicated that publication productivity of IISc is on the rise during the study period and research in Engineering, Agriculture & Biological science, Chemistry and Life sciences is high. Although a cluster analysis is carried out to find out demarcations between row elements and column elements, no useful interpretation could be drawn.

However, this analysis has to be carried out further, by factoring indicators from research input as well as other socio-economic political, and cultural factors affecting the explicit organizational knowledge. Correspondence analysis and cluster analysis highlights what is interesting, and indicates the direction in which further inquiry should be done.  相似文献

通过对知识管理文献中研究方法的关键词进行词频统计,采取聚类分析、多维尺度分析以及对应分析等方法,对国内图书情报领域的知识管理研究方法进行分析。结果发现,国内图书情报领域的知识管理研究主要采用5类方法,其中两大类方法使用尤为显著。最后,初步总结出国内图书情报领域的知识管理研究方法的规范。  相似文献

[目的/意义] 在科研过程中,知识流动的内容是多样的,而学科知识流动是其中一个重要的研究方面。从区别于基于引文的学科知识流动分析角度,从科研合作角度出发,期望从合著论文中分析出因科研合作过程而产生的学科知识流动特征。[方法/过程] 基于合著论文的参考文献的学科分布确定此论文的多学科共现属性,并根据此属性构建合著论文的多学科共现网络,即基于合著论文的学科流动网络。通过网络的整体特征和网络的节点特征两个方面对合著论文的学科流动网络进行特征分析。其中,网络整体特征包括学科流动的广泛性、学科流动的有效性、学科流动的新颖度、学科流动的流通度;网络节点(即学科节点)特征包括学科流动的核心性、学科流动的连续性、学科流动的一致性、学科流动的差异性。[结果/结论] 以"药物化学"学科为例,通过前后5年各个指标的数据对比,得出在科研合作中"药物化学"学科与其他学科之间的流动趋势是逐渐增加的,其流动的质量也是不断提升的,学科间的交流在不断地加深。同时,中美日3个国家在此学科的不同时间段均具有各自不同的表现。运用基于合著论文的学科知识流动网络分析方法能够反映科研合作中"药物化学"学科知识流动的情况,但是需要研究论证此方法在其他学科的应用程度。  相似文献

科研领域的迭代创新是一项原始创新得以扩散和发展的主要创新形式。该研究以共被引分析方法为典型案例,探索科研领域迭代创新的基本特征。通过对共被引分析方法迭代创新的整体趋势、创新阶段、迭代路径和跨学科迭代创新的分析,发现其特征包括对原始创新核心内容的不断调用以及对相关知识的引进与整合;面向问题的反复调整迭代;微创新的累积促生原始创新;在迭代创新形成规模之前存在"沉寂期";学科间的广泛扩散不仅促进迭代创新,而且不同学科在迭代创新中的"角色"不同,存在创新源发学科、创新助力学科和创新采纳学科;另外,持续的迭代创新有赖于外部环境的支撑。  相似文献

Abstract

Inspired by Gao’s text analysis of communication studies faculty, this study looks at the trends from 176 faculty publications from the criminal justice department at the University of Nevada, Reno. Criminal justice faculty publications are missing from library science text analysis literature. This study uses Voyant and NVivo 12 to analyze words and phrases from titles and abstracts to identify research interests. Voyant itself was found to be sufficient and identified specific research trends such as organizational commitment, amber alerts, and death qualification. This study can assist liaison librarians in selecting between these two tools based on their needs.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new method for indicator selection in panel data analysis and tests the method with relevant data on agricultural journals provided by the Institute of Scientific & Technical Information of China. An evaluation exercise by the TOPSIS method is conducted as a comparison. The result shows that panel data analysis is an effective method for indicator selection in scholarly journal evaluation; journals of different disciplines should not be evaluated with the same criteria; it is beneficial to publish all the evaluation indicators; unavailability of a few indicators has a limited influence on evaluation results; simplifying indicators can reduce costs and increase efficiency as well as accuracy of journal evaluation.  相似文献

This paper presents an analysis of several dimensions of scientific performance across all research disciplines measured by seven essentially different indicators that quantify productivity (absolute and fractional), collaboration (general, per publication, and international), independence from (co)advisors, and citations. The study population consists of all researchers who have obtained a Ph.D. degree in Slovenia since the country's independence in 1991. We assign researchers to 234 disciplines based on their Ph.D. thesis’ UDC classification; for each researcher, only bibliographic data for the first 10 years of their careers were used in order to avoid inconsistencies due to different career stages.While our findings show that there are notable differences between disciplines for all indicators, we also find that the trends for individual indicators are similar for the vast majority of disciplines; specifically, we observe that the fractional productivity and independence from (co)advisors of researchers are decreasing in all disciplines throughout the observed period, whereas collaboration (general, per publication, and international), and the number of citations are increasing. Moreover, our research results expose two disciplines in terms of UDC classification (mathematics and natural sciences (UDC 5), and applied sciences, medicine, technology (UDC 6)), which stand out in terms of the analyzed indicators.  相似文献

A similarity comparison is made between 120 journals from five allied Web of Science disciplines (Communication, Computer Science-Information Systems, Education & Educational Research, Information Science & Library Science, Management) and a more distant discipline (Geology) across three time periods using a novel method called citing discipline analysis that relies on the frequency distribution of Web of Science Research Areas for citing articles. Similarities among journals are evaluated using multidimensional scaling with hierarchical cluster analysis and Principal Component Analysis. The resulting visualizations and groupings reveal clusters that align with the discipline assignments for the journals for four of the six disciplines, but also greater overlaps among some journals for two of the disciplines or categorizations that do not necessarily align with their assigned disciplines. Some journals categorized into a single given discipline were found to be more closely aligned with other disciplines and some journals assigned to multiple disciplines more closely aligned with only one of the assigned disciplines. The proposed method offers a complementary way to more traditional methods such as journal co-citation analysis to compare journal similarity using data that are readily available through Web of Science.  相似文献

The paper compares the scientific profiles of 199 countries relative to 254 subject categories, based on the impact of knowledge produced in each category, measured by the bibliometric indicator known as Total Fractional Impact (TFI). TFI is calculated on the basis of publications indexed in Web of Science (here over years 2010-2019). The approach taken overcomes some criticalities occurring with indicators previously proposed for the same purpose. With this approach, it is possible to: i) produce, for any country, a scientific specialization profile in correspondence with each subject category; ii) identify distinctive or common characteristics of individual countries or clusters of countries. The approach provides a new tool which may reveal useful for formulation of research policies.  相似文献

知识扩散能促进知识创新,从过程而非结果的视角研究学术创新的扩散,能够还原学术发展的轨迹,为学术研究及科研管理提供可靠依据。本文选取结构洞理论为学术创新实例,采用包含时间维度的扩散理论和分析时间流的主路径分析方法进行创新扩散实证研究。通过建立扩散时序网络,分析扩散曲线、路径与关键节点和学科分布与信息交互模式,定义扩散广度、速度、强度及延时,并进行测度,认为可将创新扩散过程研究归纳为五个步骤,其内容涵盖研究方法与分析维度、分析层次和分析视角的整合。  相似文献

本文以Scientometrics 1991—2010年间刊载的2,045篇论文作为数据样本,分两个时间段研究这20年间科学计量学的知识结构与演进状况,并以此来研究作者文献耦合分析法(ABCA)与作者关键词耦合分析法(AKCA)在揭示学科领域知识结构方面的异同。研究发现,2001—2010年间的科学计量学的知识结构要比1991—2000年间的更加清晰明朗,其研究主题之间更为亲密,相互作用力明显要强。作者排名相关分析、研究主题探测、余弦相似度计算、研究主题变迁等均显示,AKCA与ABCA存在高度相关性;通过因子分析的模型拟合、研究主题的探测与变迁分析,又显示二者略有不同,ABCA可以探寻到比AKCA更多的研究主题,AKCA比ABCA能显示更多的信号来反映学科的技术突破以及研究前沿的进展。因此ABCA与AKCA不可互相替代,二者结合起来是探寻学科知识结构及其发展的理想研究方法。图4。表6。参考文献25。  相似文献

Text analysis has been widely used to identify research trends in many disciplines. However, little has been written about using this method to discover a department’s research trends and faculty research interests in the library setting. This study examined 107 faculty publications from the School of Communication at the University of Houston. It analyzed word and phrase frequencies from titles and abstracts using Voyant tools. The analysis was performed on both the department level and the individual faculty level. This article demonstrates a new way for librarians to understand faculty research. The method can be replicated by subject librarians to analyze their own departments.  相似文献

PurposeThis mixed-methods study integrates bibliometric and altmetric investigation with a qualitative method in order to assess the prevalence and societal-impact of Open-Access (OA) publications, and to reveal the considerations behind researchers' decision to publish articles in closed and open-access.Design/methodology/approachThe bibliometric-altmetric study analyzed 584 OA and closed publications published between 2014 and 2019 by 40 Israeli researchers: 20 from STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and 20 from SSH (Social Sciences and Humanities) discipline. We used a multistage cluster sampling method to select a representative sample for the STEM disciplines group (engineering, computer science, biology, mathematics, and physics), and for the SSH disciplines group (sociology, economics, psychology, political science, and history). Required data were extracted from Scopus and Unpaywall databases, and the PlumX-platform. Among the 40 researchers who were selected for the bibliometric-altmetric study, 20 researchers agreed to be interviewed for this study.FindingsComparing bibliometrics and altmetrics for the general publications did not reveal any significant differences between OA and closed publications. These were found only when comparing OA and closed publications across disciplines. STEM-researchers published 59 % of their publications in OA, compared to just 29 % among those in SSH, and they received significantly more bibliometric and altmetric citations from SSH OA publications and from their own closed-access publications. The altmetrics findings indicate that researchers are well acquainted and active in social media. However, according to the interviewees, there is no academic contribution for sharing research findings on social-media; it is viewed as a “public-service”. Researchers' primary consideration for publishing in closed or OA was the journal impact-factor.Research limitations/implicationsOur findings contribute to the increasing body of research that addresses OA citations and societal-impact advantages. The findings suggest the need to adopt an OA-policy after a thorough assessment of the consequences for SSH disciplines.  相似文献

This paper analyses the influence of geographic distance on knowledge flows, measured through citations to scientific publications. Previous works using the same approach are limited to single disciplines. In this study, we analyse the Italian scientific production in all disciplines matured in the period 2010–2012. To calculate the geographic distances between citing and cited publications, each one is associated with a “prevalent” territory on the basis of the authors’ affiliations. The results of the application of a gravity model, estimated using ordinary least squares regression, show that despite the spread of IT, geographic distance continues to be an influential factor in the process of knowledge flows between territories. In particular, the analysis reveals that the effect of geographic distance on knowledge flows is significant at the national level, not negligible at the continental level, but completely irrelevant at the intercontinental level.  相似文献
