开放科研数据面临数据重用的困境,了解国内外相关学者或机构对该问题的解决方式可为利益相关方政策制定与服务实施提供参考。本研究通过文献综述,调研学术论文、专题报道、调查报告、政策、学者博客等,述评当前学者对数据重用困难的解决方式,认为应关注科研人员的核心作用,提出科研数据重用生态系统模式,为支持科研数据重用活动提供服务新思路,并指出图书馆是科研数据重用活动的重要推动者。  相似文献

Developing Data Management Services at the Johns Hopkins University   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Big data challenges have stimulated national and international initiatives in building inter-connected data repositories and integrated data resources as well as long-term data management and data stewardship to support cross-disciplinary scientific data discovery and reuse. To champion such efforts, Johns Hopkins University (JHU) created and developed a new model of data management services (DMS) encompassing a continuum of Storage → Archiving → Preservation → Curation layers to provide data managing and sharing through the JHU Data Archive (DA). To examine this model of data management services, we contextualized the JHU DMS in a case study drawing upon document analysis and interviews with key stakeholders. Our investigation revealed distinct dimensions of the JHU DMS/DA into environmental responsiveness (see Environmental Responsiveness section for explanation), socio-technical readiness, and marketing and collaboration strategies. We further articulated opportunities, challenges and success determinants of the DMS within its institutional context. We intend for the case study to stimulate further discussion and research on alternative options and extensions of the DMS model in other institutions or contexts.  相似文献

近年来,社会化媒体的流行使信息分享成为用户主要的信息传播方式。本文通过对研究生群体访谈,了解其利用社会化媒体分享信息的动机,结合马斯诺需求层次理论构建研究生群体信息分享动机模型。通过对342名研究生进行问卷调查来对该模型和假设进行实证分析。结果表明,收藏动机、名誉声望、自身需求、利他动机、安全需要是影响研究生群体信息分享行为的重要因素,而社交动机对研究生群体信息分享行为有着更加显著的影响。  相似文献

[目的/意义]以用户需求为导向,分析国内高校图书馆科研数据管理服务存在的问题,为我国高校图书馆开展科研数据管理服务实践提出切实可行的建议。[方法/过程]采用网络调查法,从服务内容、服务途径和服务基础3个层面对国内高校图书馆科研数据管理服务现状进行调查;以图书馆服务现状为基础,利用问卷调查法分析国内高校图书馆用户需求,总结出用户需求特点。[结果/结论]目前国内高校图书馆科研数据管理服务存在设计和计划服务缺乏、服务方式单一、网页说明和建议内容单薄、馆员咨询内容有限等问题,而用户需求特点则体现在用户在各数据管理阶段中的需求特点,用户对咨询、培训方式的需求特点以及用户需求的学科差异性特点。基于此,提出丰富服务内容、拓展服务途径、奠定服务基础的建议。  相似文献

This article presents a case study where students aspiring to professional library roles who need to understand diverse disciplinary research data practices are placed in a laboratory with domain researchers during an immersive module within graduate MLIS programs at the School of Information Sciences (iSchool), University of Pittsburgh. A qualitative analysis of evaluation commentary from faculty researchers and MLIS students demonstrates their positive bilateral learning experiences. The potential extension of the immersive model for the delivery of research data services directly to researchers at their point of need is explored and a connection made with the established concept of an informationist, as a medical library specialist working in a clinical setting. The re-engineering challenges for academic libraries in operationalizing the immersive model for research data services are articulated, together with the challenges for iSchools in building workforce capacity and capability for immersive team science.  相似文献

The study sought to (1) investigate whether international students differ from domestic students in their information needs and barriers encountered, and (2) test the relative importance of students' domestic/international status against their gender and level of study. A survey was used to collect data from international and domestic undergraduate and graduate students in a US public university. The study collected 1259 responses. Regression analysis was used for analyzing the data. International and domestic students were found to be similar in their top-ranked needs (e.g., career information) and barriers (e.g., irrelevant and non-credible information). Compared to their gender and level of study, students' domestic/international status resulted in fewer significant differences in their needs and barriers. However, for the areas where domestic/international status was significant, its effect size was often prominent. Differences between domestic and international students are more notable in the barriers than in the information needs. Based on the findings, six propositions were developed. 研究图书馆正面临着价值质疑、贡献边缘化等危机,而解决危机必须从重新认识研究图书馆支持科技创新的目标与需要出发。通过对科技创新工作流中新的关键知识瓶颈进行分析,认为当前和未来科技创新需要宏知识、科研数据管理和基于知识的交互协同创造能力。图书馆服务应抓住机遇,建立支持战略性知识需求的新型知识服务范式,建立覆盖综合科技创新资源和覆盖科研过程的新型知识管理模式,建立支持合作创新、群组学习和交互传播的协同知识服务能力。以中国科学院文献情报体系为例,提出要建设综合数字知识基础设施,完善科技发展态势监测分析服务,构建嵌入科研一线的科研知识服务,建立虚实结合的协同知识服务机制。  相似文献

通过对武汉11所高校科研人员的问卷调查,从高校产生的科学数据的特征、用户对科学数据的认知与观念、管理科学数据的行为以及对科学数据管理服务的期望4个方面,对高校科学数据管理需求进行分析与研究。在此基础上,提出高校图书馆进行科学数据管理的对策:加大科学数据管理的宣传力度,增强科研管理部门及用户的科学数据管理意识,为推行科学数据管理奠定基础;探索适宜的科学数据合作模式,与科研管理部门和IT部门建立合作关系, 共同推动科学数据管理的发展;邀请用户全程参与科学数据管理项目,充分了解用户对科学数据管理的需求,提供真正符合用户需要的数据管理服务;尽快培养优秀的科学数据管理人才。  相似文献

基于科学数据管理生命周期理论与科学数据管理能力成熟度模型,从建设基础(政策、经费、技术、团队)及管理过程(数据管理计划、采集标准与流程、描述与元数据、存储与保存、共享与保护、应用与服务)两个维度对比国内外11个健康医学科学数据管理平台的建设实践。调查发现,国内健康医学科学数据管理政策不够完善,缺少保障健康医学数据安全及个人隐私的法规;平台提供的服务强调健康医学科学数据存储,而对数据管理与共享的支持不足。基于国外成熟经验,本文从完善激励机制与数据政策、扩大经费来源、增强技术创新、保护数据安全和促进数据共享、深化服务内容5个方面对国内健康医学科学数据管理平台提出建议。  相似文献

Academic libraries can effectively plan and market their services by identifying the value users perceive in their services and in their social media communications about those services. This study reports on findings of a survey of 104 undergraduate students in information technology courses at a large research university. Results of an ordered logistic regression analysis indicated that students considered access to information and computer resources and study support services as the most important library services offered. Likewise, students perceived library social media postings related to operations updates, study support services, and events as the most useful. Future related research will investigate the needs and priorities for library services of other key user populations of academic libraries, such as graduate students and online students, to assemble service repertoires that are tailored to individual user groups. In addition, future research will examine whether and how libraries can use the analysis of users' engagement with a library's social media postings to inexpensively gauge the value they perceive in library services.  相似文献

College students with a life experience of chronic illness and impairments grow into young adulthood as health information monitors as well as communicators with healthcare professionals. This interview study focused on the health information management practices of college and graduate students living with disabilities and chronic illness. SEIPS (Systems Engineering Initiative for Patient Safety), a work system model drawn from human factors engineering, was used as a conceptual framework for qualitative analysis. This revealed the importance of other people, particularly parents, in patients' information worlds. Digital technologies were ubiquitous; analog tools from business cards to binders were also key components of students' information systems. Using the SEIPS structure to interrogate the data allowed an understanding of how health experiences are integrated into everyday life. The findings of this research may provide health information technology designers and information science researchers insight into how to meet the needs of this population.  相似文献

The Distance Learning Department of the Regis University Library is charged with providing library instruction for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in accelerated courses offered at six distance campus locations and online. The department has created a series of animated online tutorials (i.e., screencasts) accessible via the library Web site. These interactive tutorials cover basic library services and resources and represent an effort to provide asynchronous bibliographic instruction to remote library users. This paper describes the use of screencasting software to create library tutorials and related issues including software options, production tips and techniques, and project management. In addition, the author describes the use of Google Analytics to record usage statistics and perform assessments.  相似文献

Undergraduates need relevant information while faculty and graduate students need the right information. These needs are quite different and imply special considerations in library services. Undergraduates are not well served in libraries that aim their services primarily to the needs of researchers. Libraries serving undergraduates should have an easily accessible basic collection of popular periodicals keyed to general indexes with reference help nearby. Undergraduates should also be offered library instruction when they are working on a library research project. The Earlham College model of faculty-librarian cooperation and the term paper consultation are ideal in that they blend reference service and library instruction.  相似文献

This work analyses the perception and practice of sharing, reusing, and facilitating access to research data in the field of food science and technology. The study involved the coordination of a focus group discussion and an online survey, to understand and evince the behaviour of researchers regarding data management in that field. Both the discussion group and the survey were performed with researchers from several institutes of the Spanish National Research Council. The lack of a data sharing culture, the fear of being scooped, and confusion between the concepts of the working plan and the data management plan were some of the issues that emerged in the focus group. Respondents' previous experience with sharing their research data has been mainly in the form of appendices to peer‐reviewed publications. From the survey (101 responses), the most important motivations for publishing research data were found to be facilitating the reproducibility of the research, increasing the likelihood of citations of the article, and compliance with funding body mandates. Legal constraints, intellectual property, data ownership, data rights, potential commercial exploitation, and misuse of data were the main barriers to publishing data as open data. Citation in publications, certification, compliance with standards, and the reputation of the data providers were the most relevant factors affecting the use of other researchers' data. Being recent or recently updated, well documented, with quality metadata and ease of access were the most valued attributes of open research data.  相似文献

A library's Web site is well recognized as the gateway to the library for the vast majority of users. Choosing the most user-friendly Web architecture to reflect the many services libraries offer is a complex process, and librarians are still experimenting to find what works best for their users. As part of a redesign of the Oregon State University Libraries’ Web site, entry points for specific user groups were created. One of these user groups was graduate students. The purpose of this study was to explore the ways other academic libraries design their Web sites for particular user groups, specifically graduate students, in order to determine how the Oregon State University Libraries Web site compared to peer institutions. This study analyzed 112 Association of Research Libraries’ Web sites and 26 Oregon academic libraries’ Web sites to determine the availability of resources and services specifically promoted to graduate students. Since graduate students may view the library Web site through the lens of new student, researcher, or instructor, Web sites were also examined to see if sites were created with any or all of these roles in mind. Nearly a quarter of Association of Research Libraries' Web sites that were examined contained a link on the homepage for graduate students, and another 20 percent provided graduate-student information at a lower level in their site hierarchy. A majority of sites had events, subject guides, or course guides for graduate students. Information for graduate students was typically framed in the context of graduate students as researchers. Ideas and examples are given for ways to improve Web site design to better serve this user group. In order to provide improved services to these students, future studies will explore what graduate students need from academic libraries and the ways these students conduct themselves in their various roles of researchers, instructors, and new students.  相似文献
