Abstract This paper provides a methodology to study the characteristics of the research output from a university department. The faculty publications and their cited references over a 10-year period were used as the basis for this study to identify their publishing patterns and the types of material they are publishing; a core set of journals and other resources they are publishing in and citing over this period; the characteristics of the journals in which they publish and cite; the degree of openness of their publications and their citation advantage; and the age of resources that are referenced. 相似文献

Abstract University outreach is an educational and research-based information source enabling farmers to make decisions that improve the quality of their lives. This paper explores how collaborative efforts between the university and farmers have directly impacted in albeit Striga (‘noxious witch weed’) ravaged maize farms in rainforest farming systems in southwest Nigeria. Data were collected using pre-tested instruments from cross-section of 280 participating and non-participating farmers. Logistic regression results indicated that certain coefficient estimates such as gender, regularity of extension contact, membership of farmers’ group, female adult aged 16 and above, assistance in the provision of tractor-hiring services and improved crop yields were found to be statistically significant at p < 0.05. Furthermore, findings from sample statistics were reflections of peasantry as majority of the farmers had small mean farm size, large household size and low annual income from sales of maize crop. The major conclusion that could be drawn from the study is that the provision of extension by the university coupled with other factors have had significant positive influence on decision to adopt introduced cultural practices with attendant improvement on the well-being of participating farmers. 相似文献

The purpose of this study was to assess differences between Nigerian junior and senior preservice teachers’ science teaching
efficacy beliefs. Data in this study were collected from a total number of 221 preservice teachers enrolled in junior and
senior secondary science teacher education programs in Nigeria using Science Teaching Efficacy Belief Instrument (STEB-B)
(Enoch and Riggs in Sci Educ 74:625–638 1990). Results indicated that junior secondary preservice teachers were as efficacious as their senior secondary preservice teachers
on the two dimensions of STEB-B. In addition, analyses did not reveal any significant gender differences on the two dimensions
of STEB-B. 相似文献
