This study investigated the combined role of instructor communication variables (nonverbal immediacy and self-disclosure), instructor credibility (competence, caring, and trustworthiness), and student personality traits (extraversion, neuroticism, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness) in predicting students’ uncivil behaviors in class. A total of 406 students completed online questionnaires regarding the instructor of the class they attended prior to the one in which the study was administered. Personality and instructor behavior variables contributed approximately equally to explaining variance in student incivility. Students’ conscientiousness and agreeableness had direct negative relationships with incivility, whereas instructors’ amount and negativity of self-disclosure had direct positive relationships with incivility.  相似文献

In this study, seven graduate students were interviewed and 187 (91 online; 96 traditional) graduate students were surveyed about perceptions of differences in instructors' demands and support and student' motivation, self-regulation, satisfaction, and perceptions of learning in these environments. Results indicated significant differences in students' perceptions on all variables except self-efficacy. Results indicated a strong effect for differences between perceived instructor affective support in online and traditional classrooms. Although students in traditional classrooms ranked instructors' affective support higher, the variable had a stronger relationship with online students' satisfaction. Differences between online and traditional students' reports of instructors' academic support, instructors' demands, and students' satisfaction were significant with medium effect sizes. Results are important because they provide information about students' perceptions of the differences in environments created by instructors that relate to students' affective outcomes.  相似文献

为了更好的增强学生的专业技能,全面提高学生的综合素质,使其适应社会发展的需要,部分本科院校实施本科生导师制与学分制相结合的教学模式。研究以某师范学院教育技术学系实施开展导师制活动的师生为样本,通过对部分导师和学生的访谈,分析教育技术学系在导师制实践活动中所取得的主要成果及影响导师制活动的主要障碍,并给出改革实施措施、改进实施效果的的建议。研究结果认为,项目驱动的导师制能够有效提升导师和学生参与活动的动机,并对活动的实施质量有促进作用。  相似文献

研究生与导师之间存在着保姆型、放任型、依附型、合作型、互动型等关系类型,不同的关系类型对研究生培养有着不同的影响。保姆型关系虽然较有利于学业的完成,但难以使研究生获得独立从事科研的创新能力,因而应设法予以避免;放任型关系可能使个别研究生出类拔萃,但成才概率极低,应予严格限制;依附型关系要培养出创新型人才,需要依附高水平导师及其所主持的高层次课题研究,无法任意推广;合作型与互动型关系更有利于研究生创新能力的培养和提高,但其构建存在很大难度,因而应积极创造条件,倡导和促成这两种关系类型的形成和普遍化。  相似文献

The main concern is a longstanding one in classroom instruction—the determinants of effective team performance. The paper explicitly examines the effect of teacher‐controlled factors on the use and functioning of student teams. From a sample of 500 undergraduate students, data are obtained on aptitude, diversity, instability, motivation, personality style, size, and performance. The regression results suggest that team motivation and instability, which are both partly controlled by the instructor, are particularly important in determining a team's performance. An implication is that instructor decisions about team make‐up and incentives can have a significant impact on student achievement.  相似文献

This study explored the relationship between effective instructor behavior—instructor confirmation—and a potentially negative student behavior—instructional dissent. Previous studies demonstrate that student characteristics provide a limited explanation for how students express dissent (e.g., Goodboy & Myers, 2012 Goodboy, A. K. & Myers, S. A. (2012). Brief report: Instructional dissent as an expression of students’ verbal aggressiveness and argumentativeness traits. Thus, scholars have begun to investigate the influence of instructor behaviors along with student characteristics to understand why students express dissent (LaBelle, Martin, & Weber, 2013 LaBelle, S., Martin, M. M. & Weber, K. (2013). Instructional dissent in the college classroom: Using the instructional beliefs model as a framework. This study revealed that instructor confirmation negatively related to expressive and vengeful dissent, but not rhetorical dissent. Further, the three dimensions of instructor confirmation functioned differently in accounting for variance in expressive and vengeful dissent. Future research should build towards a model of instructional dissent model that reflects the unique characteristics of the instructional context and modifiable instructor behaviors.  相似文献
