Objectives: To create research bulletins for public health professionals that support knowledge transfer and evidence‐based practice. Methods: The methodology for the bulletins comprises five stages: scoping the topic, searching for relevant literature, selecting and obtaining relevant articles, assessing the quality of articles including evidence grading, producing a comment on quality and implications for practice and writing the research bulletin. An ABC—applicability, brevity and clarity—is considered at each stage to ensure that bulletins meet the needs of their intended audience. Results: Nine research bulletins have been produced on a range of health promotion topics. Bulletins are distributed to Welsh health professionals and are available online. The bulletins have developed since their inception to incorporate evaluation and feedback. Most significant among these developments has been introduction of an Implications for Practice section to promote uptake of research. Conclusions: Research bulletins support busy health professionals in evidence‐based practice by assigning a level of evidence, highlighting implications for practice and providing a comment on quality. The bulletins further develop the extended role for information professionals in knowledge transfer and dissemination.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Documents reflect the historical contexts of their creation, and in doing so, become information objects. The serial novel is a type of information object, but due to re-editioning, reversioning, and digitization, most readers have lost touch with its historical significance. This analysis of Charles Dickens’ David Copperfield (1849–1850) uses the lens of information theory, in relation to literary criticism, historiography, and the history of the book, to grasp the serial novel as an information object, arguing that doing so requires intimate familiarity with the physical nature of the book in parts and the historical context of its production.  相似文献

Beginning with a research question that sought to discover what film criticism actually is, the article uncovers important distinctions between scholarly and practice-orientated conceptions of contemporary film criticism. Through a qualitative mixed-method approach, the article first explores the relevant scholarly literature and a sample of content carriers of film criticism before moving into fieldwork to test findings. Through the process of triangulating these data-sets emerges the motivation to create a schools approach for post-millennia film criticism. The empirical data cover North America and the United Kingdom but the findings may have explanatory potential beyond these territories. Beginning by looking at research on criticism from such prominent scholars as Noël Carrol and Terry Eagleton, a dialectic is uncovered between aesthetic evaluations and socio-political comment. These ideas are then tested in fieldwork by undertaking semi-structured, in-depth qualitative interviews with 30 film critics at two major international film festivals. There is a clear disconnect between scholarly ideas about criticism and two-thirds of the film critics’ conceptions of criticism in their daily routines. From this particular difference of opinion, an Academic School in comparison to Trade and Populist Schools emerges. In turn, this prompts a reappraisal of content carrier data approximated against the fieldwork data and leads to the conceptualising of additional schools: Sophisticated, Fandom and Consumer.  相似文献

The convergence of Internet technology and federal information policy are encouraging federal information producers and users to adopt a new direct model of information dissemination of federal information from producing agency to end user. On the surface, this trend would appear to remove the traditional middlemen—the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) and depository libraries—from the dissemination model. To assess the impact of the Internet model on the future viability of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP), the traditional GPO/depository library model of information dissemination is examined in four areas, keeping in mind the underlying intent of the FDLP to assure access to federal information in all congressional districts.  相似文献

The article summarizes the empirical results on relations between students' problem stages in the course of writing their research proposals for their master's theses and the information sought, choice of search terms and tactics and relevance assessments of the information found for that task. The study is based on Kuhlthau's model of the information search process. The results of the study show that there is a close connection between the students' problem stages (mental model) in the task performance and the information sought, search tactics used, and the assessment of the relevance and utility of the information found. The corroborated hypotheses extend and specify ideas in Kuhlthau's model in the domain of IR. A theory of task-based information searching based on the empirical findings of the study is presented.  相似文献

为提高图书馆微信公众号图书阅读推广文章的采纳程度,优化图书馆微信公众号图书阅读推广文章的编写技巧与发送方式,对图书馆微信公众号图书阅读推广文章采纳行为影响因素进行分析和实证检验。以详尽可能性模型和信息采纳理论为基础,结合微信公众号推广文章的特点,构建图书馆微信公众号图书阅读推广文章采纳行为影响因素模型和观测变量,采用结构方程分析方法进行实证。结果表明:外围路径因素中的标题趣味性、推文发送位置、内容突出程度和中心路径因素中的内容趣味性、推荐力度、图书获取途径均对图书馆微信公众号图书阅读推广文章采纳行为有显著影响,其中外围路径因素的影响大于中心路径因素。  相似文献

This study compares the circulation rates of recently published monographs and anthologies of literary criticism at libraries at five liberal arts colleges in Ohio. The analysis shows that anthologies tend to circulate at a much higher rate than monographs. Applying these findings to the cooperative development of shared collections, these findings suggest that literary criticism anthologies may merit a greater number of duplicate copies than do monographs in the same subject area in a shared college library system. This subject-specific study may serve as a model for further studies aimed at developing more nuanced duplication guidelines for shared collections.  相似文献

[目的/意义]移动图书馆信息接受情境粘滞是阻碍信息接受的活跃性因素。降低信息接受情境粘滞度,增强移动图书馆信息接受的"场景-行为-情境"适配功效,是提升移动图书馆场景服务能力、实现移动图书馆服务创新的关键。[方法/过程]通过探索移动图书馆信息接受情境粘滞的形成动因,运用情境适配理论和阻滞增长模型理论,构建移动图书馆信息接受情境粘滞模型;运用Matlab动态模拟移动图书信息接受的场景要素、情境要素和适配要素对移动图书馆信息接受情境粘滞的影响。[结果/结论]实验结果显示:移动图书馆信息接受情境粘滞在不同的阶段呈现不同的特征,粘滞度过小会使移动图书馆信息接受情境对移动服务场景产生剧烈的震荡作用,粘滞度过大则会使移动图书馆信息接受场景过分依赖于信息接受情境。  相似文献

Rhetorical critics have no consensually acceptable understanding of their enterprise because theoretical discussions of the nature of rhetorical criticism have been conducted from within the stances of the natural attitude. The reflective attitude, in contrast, reveals the shared assumptions and procedures of all rhetorical critics, regardless of their particular theories and methods. The reflective attitude is thus required in formulating an acceptable understanding of rhetorical criticism as a form of experience.  相似文献

Because hedonic aspects of products are difficult to evaluate prior to consumption, consumers seek signals to reduce their uncertainty. Opinion leaders, such as critics, may serve as key informants to consumers. This study considers the different roles and incentives of literary critics and how they influence the success of books. Furthermore, it empirically investigates the impact of 4 book critics featured on Germany's most popular literary television show, Das Literarische Quartett, on reviewed books' success. The variety of control variables included in the mixed regression models provide results pertaining to not only the critics, but also the success factors of books in general. Book success does not depend primarily on the mere appearance of a book on a television show or a favorable review of it; rather, awareness and word-of-mouth effects seem crucial, and books are more likely to succeed if critics disagree about the quality and express extreme judgments, even if those judgments are negative.  相似文献

根据信息价值运动过程,可将一个完整的信息生命周期划分为价值形成、价值激活和增值、价值实现、价值消亡等4个阶段。当信息脱离原有生态链、被松散链接的多条信息生态链利用,其价值出现多次无规律、不相关的增值,这种现象可以被称为信息生命周期交叠,从信息主体行为的角度可将周期交叠分为互利共赢型、以我为主型和损人利己型。进一步地,当前的泛在信息环境以用户为核心的网状信息传播模式,促进了信息生命周期交叠的发生,引起信息价值的巨大波动,增加了信息传播过程中的风险,给信息管理带来了更大的挑战。  相似文献

The information literacy (IL) needs of people in the fourth age, a stage of increasing dependence and disability, have not been considered in the research literature. Based on the premise that there are relationships between information seeking and IL, this article begins to bridge this gap by focusing on the information-seeking behavior of the group in an attempt to identify IL needs. It does this through a literature review, particularly drawing on two pieces of human information behavior research, one a new study focused specifically on the group in question. It also examines existing definitions of IL in order to gauge how relevant they appear to be. The reasons for studying this group include that all stages of a person's lifespan deserve to be studied and that the population size of this group increases dramatically in the developed world. Although information needs and sources used are fewer in the fourth age, they are still important to the people involved, thus making IL a relevant concept. The researchers draw implications for IL from the particularities of the information context where disability and frailty impede purposeful information seeking. The resulting emphasis on incidental information acquisition increases the role for social networks and communication, again with implications for IL. Information grounds, where people congregate for purposes other than information sharing, including artificially created ones, will also be important for information dissemination. The role of the Internet, including assistive technology for its use, is also relevant. The conclusion is that IL is crucial to the well-being of people in the fourth age but that existing definitions need to be adjusted to the specific informational context.  相似文献

This article covers how an interdisciplinary course was developed using the expertise and resources of a history professor, the history and psychology subject librarians, and the university's writing center. The course, supported by a grant, was aimed at helping students improve their research, information literacy, and writing skills across disciplines. The article discusses the involvement of the partners from the initial planning stages to its conclusion, focusing especially on how the librarians created a library session, course-specific guide, annotated bibliography assignment and grading rubric, and how these were used as opportunities to interact with the students throughout the course. Also covered are research and writing challenges, especially for English-language learner students, and how they were addressed by all the partners. It also discusses how the librarians used this experience to seek out opportunities to create similar collaborations with other instructors, and to strengthen ties with support services on campus.  相似文献

目前学术界主要是从学术研究的角度来讨论图书馆学学术论文的写作问题,文章则从客观存在的图书馆学学术论文的现实状态入手,总结出图书馆学学术论文写作现象的几个特点,然后进一步探究现象背后更为深层的问题。文章认为,目前国内图书馆学学术论文写作现象主要有以下几个特点:1、论文数量较多,质量高的较少;2、大多数人研究范围较宽泛,形成稳定研究方向的少;3、重视论文学术性、严谨性、创新性,轻视论文生动性,较少使用修辞用句;4、发表个人观点占绝大多数,进行商榷、争鸣或学术批评的较少;5、有一些图书情报期刊编辑撰文探讨如何写作专业论文,图书馆学家讲述专业学术论文写作的太少。形成这种状况的原因主要和图书馆人的学历、专业结构有关。作为研究者应不断提高自己的学历、完善其知识结构,提高研究水平;作为图书馆界,则应进一步加强对人员培训的力度。  相似文献

[目的/意义]构建知乎信息传播过程PROV数据起源模型和用户可信度评价指标,量化知乎信息的可信度,丰富和完善社会化问答社区平台信息可信度评估的方法。[方法/过程]以知乎为研究对象,从信息传播过程的角度出发引入数据起源概念评估信息的可信度,通过建立知乎的PROV数据起源模型,追溯并记录知乎信息的来源和传播过程,与信息传播过程中涉及到的用户可信度分值相结合,计算出知乎信息的可信度定量结果。[结果/结论]通过对知乎信息可信度的评估,进一步完善信息可信度评估方法,为优化社区信息质量提供新思路。  相似文献

While there is considerable research on interventions to support academic staff in writing for publication, there is limited literature on writing interventions for librarians. This article explores the potential of a blended learning approach to support librarians to develop the motivation and skills to write for publication. The program combines three elements: a formal writing seminar; a structured series of online exercises and mentoring support; and two peer-feedback days. The article suggests that the combination of online and face-to-face activities has the potential to be a sustainable model for helping to develop librarians as academic writers. It suggests that this type of model could provide a context, which is currently lacking, for librarians to develop their identity and skills as academic writers.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

At Oregon State University, writing instructors and librarians collaboratively teach research writing and information literacy in first year composition courses. A four-week unit focuses on the connections between critical thinking, writing and learning, and information literacy. This article describes the process of developing, implementing, and refining this collaborative curriculum. By using assignments and texts that model a recursive critical research and writing process for students, librarians and writing instructors help students think more deeply and critically about their topics.  相似文献
