David Wildon Carr (1945–2016) was recognized in the international cultural community as a scholar and instigator whose critical thinking challenged museum practitioners to reflect on the purpose and responsibility of their work. In his recent papers and lectures, he argued that those discussing museum experiences are late to enter into a dialogue already in progress—a dialogue which carefully considers the whole person in a community, and wherein thinking with a museum is an enterprise embedded in the learner's experience. This forum, written by three museum professionals in response to his recent untimely death, is intended to capture personal impressions of Carr's contribution to the continuing work of museums. Each author quotes from Carr's writings, since his words have such enduring strength—a strength that will continue to resonate long into the future. Each also offers readers some personal background on his work as a teacher. 相似文献

This study explains the history of a 1959 amendment to the 1934 Communications Act through the lens of historical institutionalism. The amendment created broad exemptions for newscasts, documentaries, interviews, and news events, triggering the equal time provision for candidates for public office. While this study offers a variety of new empirical details, the chief goal is explanation based on an examination of historical mechanisms—path dependence, critical junctures, agglomeration, asymmetries of power, reinforcement of expectations, and temporal sequencing—that shaped the policy options leading up to the amendment. 相似文献

While T. M. Parrott's proposal that Shakespeare may have written the title‐role of King Richard II "for his own interpretation as an actor” suggests an interesting area of bibliographical research, the prevailing unreliability of facsimile editions of Shakespearean quartos makes investigation of presumed authorial pointing in Q1 —theoretically rhetorical or dramatic, rather than syntactical—both hazardous and frustrating. Still, the neophyte American bibliographer (who must resort to such texts), if forewarned concerning the nature of tamperings in photo‐lithographic facsimiles—made‐up lines, editorial “emendations” of original punctuation, occasional alteration of details in printers’ ornaments, and sometimes even outright forgeries—should find the liabilities well worth braving. 相似文献

在医患关系紧张的现实背景下,本文聚焦医疗纪录片,分析其在医生、患者群体的形象构建与医患关系认知引导过程中的作用。通过文本分析可知,医疗纪录片构建了医者职业身份之外立体饱满的个人化形象,也呈现了带有家庭、个人属性的多元化的患者媒介形象。通过对医护群体与普通受访者的深度访谈,研究主要得出三方面的结论:对于医者媒介形象,医疗纪录片拓展了人们对医者形象的认知,但并未对其原有的负面认知产生根本性改变;对于患者媒介形象,医护群体认可其呈现的多元丰富性,且普通受访者表示可通过旁观患者行为获得启示;在医疗过程认知的影响上,受访医者肯定医疗纪录片科普医学与医疗过程对改善医患关系的重要作用。 相似文献

Karol Estreicher (1827–1908) compiled Bibliografia polska [Polish bibliography], an extraordinary retrospective national bibliography of the body of written works of Poland. Chronologically covering the entire history of printing in Poland up to 1900, it consisted of three distinct parts: the nineteenth century; a universal chronological bibliography of Polish publications; and pre-nineteenth century, conventionally called Bibliografia staropolska [Bibliography of old Poland]. So far a total of 56 volumes of Bibliografia polska have been published. That total includes the 35 volumes that constitute parts 1, 2, and 3; the four volumes that, covering 1891–1900, were published outside the framework of the three parts; and the seventeen volumes that constitute the second edition of part 1, the nineteenth-century bibliography. It was an exhaustive but also complicated bibliographic opus. A prolific writer and literary scholar himself, Estreicher devoted—with remarkable endurance and resilience—50 years of his life to its making. Much of the complexity of his bibliography reflected the cultural and intellectual roots of the author and the way he interpreted the meaning of his project. 相似文献

While scholars have reviewed characterizations of photographers in feature films, they have neglected the image of real-world photographers in the documentary genre. This study incorporates visual representation theory to engage with several of the ways in which documentary filmmakers use the visual aspects of motion pictures to glamorize the lives and careers of photographers. As witnessed in four case study films, the analysis of this research highlights film's ability to generate representative character types. Specific aesthetic conventions of filmmaking are found to affect the on-screen projections of the photographer-subjects. The mostly positive depictions of “celebrity” or noteworthy real-world photographers also suggest that the documentaries under study primarily exist as marketing or publicity materials for the professional and his or her body of work. 相似文献

The article is based on a recent grant proposal written for a Hungarian agency, and it is also written as a public appeal to all archives collecting sources of the Hungarian Western diaspora, both home and abroad. It provides an overview of émigré document sources stored by Hungarian archives, as well as those that can be found in the United States, much scattered and often endangered, unknown, or forgotten. The author, a founding member of the Consulting Committee for Exploring and Rescuing Hungarian Documents in the West, organized in January 2013 by the Hungarian National Archives, calls for broad national and international efforts to explore and save the written heritage of the Hungarian Western diaspora. In his conclusions he outlines the most demanding tasks of a program based on long- and short-term cooperation of all potential partners. 相似文献

AbstractThomas Bardwell (1704–67), an English portrait painter, wrote a technical treatise entitled The Practice of Painting and Perspective Made Easy which was published in 1756. The section on painting deals exclusively with the oil technique and may be considered one of the most original productions of its kind written in England. A total of 153 paint samples were taken from 15 of Bardwell’s paintings dating between 1740 and 1766, the better part of his active career. Through cross-sections, and likewise numerous analyses, made from these paint samples it was possible to reconstruct Bardwell’s actual practice. This in turn could be compared with the suggested technique as explained in his book. Bardwell’s actual practice follows his written advice rather closely; however, in general it was discovered to be less complicated. 相似文献

After setting in proper perspective the nature and extent of the influence of the Reverend Solomon Stoddard, the author attempts to show that in major degree Stoddard's influence depended upon his theories and practice of persuasion. To accomplish his persuasive goal of promoting increased religious devotion—under control of the Church, Stoddard applied an integrated pattern of persuasion: he evoked the aid of civil authorities, urged New Englanders to reform, swept the people into the churches by changes in admission policies, exerted greater control over individuals and churches by means of reforms of liturgy and church organization, and—most important to students of speech—practiced and taught to other ministers his techniques for inducing conversion. 相似文献

《孙氏祠堂书目》是一部重要的分类书目,为清孙星衍所撰。孙氏不囿传统和权威,按照自己的分类思想,考虑到岁周之数、各类图书数量的多寡、当时社会学术的发展状况等因素,大胆地将所藏之书分为十二大类,创立十二分法。该分法与几臻完善的四分法相比,在类目设置上有很多创新之处,在图书分类史和学科发展史上有着重要影响。同时,它在图书著录上的导读作用以及版本著录上的详细说明,对后世乃至今天都有借鉴意义。 相似文献
