The purpose of this study was to assess the websites of American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC)-member medical schools for the presence of library links. Sixty-one percent (n?=?92) of home pages of the 150 member schools of the AAMC contain library links. For the 58 home pages not offering such links, 50 provided a pathway of two or three clicks to a library link. The absence of library links on 39% of AAMC medical school home pages indicates that the designers of those pages did not consider the library to be a primary destination for their visitors.  相似文献

The School of Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia Campus of Virginia Commonwealth University examined the 2005/2006 medical school curriculum to ensure that students were prepared to meet the informatics objectives put forward by the AAMC Medical School Objectives Project published in 1998. The AAMC Medical Informatics Objectives Survey, issued in 2005, led the VCU School of Medicine to investigate the points of integration between informatics objectives and course syllabi for the first three years of the medical school curriculum. This analysis raised awareness of the informatics objectives with SOM faculty and staff and showed that more than 74% of the informatics objectives have been integrated into the curriculum.  相似文献

PIER has been available directly to physicians from the American College of Physicians (ACP) for some time, but it has only recently become available to libraries via the STAT!Ref suite of electronic resources. PIER is designed specifically for the practicing internist, and it offers a uniform search structure that is meant to be searched the way physicians work through their medical cases, going from diagnosis to treatment. All of the information content in PIER is evidence-based and consists of clinical practice guidelines and recommendations.  相似文献

A brief overview of the Bibliographic Access and Control System developed by the Washington University School of Medicine Library is presented. Because the system has been described in two previous reports, this paper focuses on its relationship to other automated programs (i.e., PHILSOM and OCTANET), education of users, evaluation of the system, and outreach to the medical center. In operation for more than two years, BACS represents the computerization of much of the managerial and operational functions of the library, and marks the completion of stage 1 of the three stages of library evolution described in the AAMC report Academic Information in the Academic Health Sciences Center: Roles for the Library in Information Management.  相似文献

Library integration into the medical school curriculum is a crucial aspect of meeting Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) Accreditation Standards and the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Medical School Objectives Project (MSOP) guidelines. To accomplish this, academic health sciences libraries seek to develop evidence-based medicine (EBM) literature searching classes within the medical school curriculum. Establishing a basic understanding of the fundamental concepts behind health sciences database searching among medical students is a prerequisite for a more demanding evidence-based literature searching curriculum. The George T. Harrell Health Sciences Library, Penn State College of Medicine, sought to incorporate an evidence-based medicine literature searching structure by working within the existing problem-based learning system during the preclinical years. Students in the clinical years will participate in evidence-based assignments during their rotations. A fourth-year EBM elective will be created to reinforce and round out students' exposure to these concepts.  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: For librarians developing a credit course for medical students, the process often involves trial and error. This project identified issues surrounding the administration of a credit course, so that librarians nationally can rely more upon shared knowledge of common practices and less upon trial and error. METHODS: A questionnaire was sent to the education services librarian at each medical school listed in the 2000 AAMC Data Book. A second questionnaire was sent to those librarians who did not return the first one. RESULTS: Of the 125 librarians surveyed, 82 returned the questionnaire. Of those 82, only 11 offered a credit course for medical students, though 19 more were in the process of developing one. Data were gathered on the following aspects of course administration: credit course offerings, course listing, information learned to administer the course, costs associated with the course, relationships with other departments on campus, preparation for teaching and grading, and evaluation of the course. CONCLUSIONS: Because of small number of respondents offering a credit course and institutional variations, making generalizations about issues surrounding the administration of a credit course is difficult. The article closes with a list of recommendations for librarians planning to develop a course.  相似文献

Publicly funded institutions, such as NIH, NLM, and state-supported universities, have explicit public service missions that extend beyond the walls of a single institution. During the past few years, national organizations, such as NLM and AAMC, have funded studies and projects to measure how well universities are adapting to technological change and educational reform. The IAIMS models are evidence of universities fostering cooperative rather than duplicative effort. Opportunities and problems facing universities extending systems and services to the private practice setting, to community-based health care HMO's, and to state and local health care agencies are discussed in terms of political, economic, and geographic realities. Instilling lifelong learning concepts begins before the health professional enters practice and is dependent on the emphasis universities place on "excellence in teaching." Without cooperation among core facilities, such as libraries, computer centers, and excellent instructors, continuing education will remain a parochial issue instead of a national thrust toward the continuum of the learning process. If continuing education is to become a high priority for universities and take its place on the education spectrum, flexible policies must be established to accommodate individual practitioners' expectations and interests.  相似文献

版式标准作为电子文件与电子档案管理流程中的基础性应用要求,在电子文件归档、封装固化以及电子档案的传输、存储、利用等方面发挥着重要的作用。本文分析了OFD标准在电子档案管理中的应用特性,总结了OFD标准在电子文件与电子档案管理流程中的基本功能:转换功能、容器功能和管理功能。在此基础上结合福建省档案馆应用实践经验,在具有福建特色的“三包两结构一体化”电子文件与电子档案规范管理模式中,创新应用OFD标准,阐述了OFD标准在“三包两结构一体化”电子档案规范管理模式中的基本应用环节、基本应用场景,以充分发挥OFD特性,满足新修订的《档案法》关于电子档案规范管理的要求,进一步推动电子文件单套归档与电子档案单套管理工作的落地见效。  相似文献

为了揭示我国电子档案研究的主题分布,从电子档案管理流程视角切入,以电子档案相关研究文献为数据来源,对电子档案管理的信息技术环境、电子文件的归档管理、电子档案的管理与处置和电子档案的利用等四个研究主题进行了分析。结果发现,研究较多关注文件和档案管理系统功能设计、新型电子文件的归档可行性、单套制归档、存储、备份和关联利用的问题,但其基础设施、编目、著录、鉴定与销毁等研究问题受关注较少,同时,知识图谱等新兴技术在电子档案中的应用以及资源的社会化开发、交互推送服务等新型开发利用模式成为研究的新热点。  相似文献

保护电子文件的可信性是目前电子文件管理领域的研究热点。近几年,新兴的区块链技术逐渐被引入档案领域,其所具备的不可篡改、透明可追溯、保密性等特点能有效适用于电子文件可信保护。本文在电子文件长期保存的背景下,深入探讨电子文件可信保护,从对区块链与电子文件的共性及电子文件可信保护要素分析切入,借鉴OAIS模型,提出“信息区块”概念及基于区块链技术的电子文件可信保护框架,以期为维护电子文件真实性、可靠性、完整性和可读性,建立电子文件信任的实施提供参考。  相似文献

国家加快建设全国一体化在线政务服务平台导致档案部门的管理职能被蚕食,政务服务平台建设管理机制与电子文件管理部际联席会议制度在职责上叠加重复,确认了电子签名、电子印章、电子证照和电子档案与相应实物件具有同等法律效力,并首次明确了电子文件不再以纸质形式归档和移交。档案部门应当按照"一网通办"的要求修订和完善现有档案法规规章,重新审视档案部门工作职责,主动拓展档案信息资源采集范围,实现电子文件管理联席会议制度在政务服务平台建设层面上的重组与融合,不断提升电子文件管理相关软硬件设施的自主可控水平,加大对电子档案"四性"保障新方法的探索。  相似文献

将经济学中的最大化理论运用于图书馆电子资源的采购和服务领域,阐述图书馆电子资源用户受益最大化分为采购预期最大化和效用预期最大化两个层次。提出开展馆外访问服务将使图书馆提供电子资源服务的时间最大化,同时让合法用户在资源内容、时间与空间上的受益最大化,而网络用户个人身份认证则是目前保障其合法用户受益最大化的最有效的方式。  相似文献
