Developing a meaningful collaboration with teaching faculty to enhance courses can be a challenge for information professionals as they struggle to move away from the one-shot classroom lecture model. The Association of College & Research Libraries encourages the use of mini grants for this purpose. These incentives can jump-start partnerships in a needed area, such as English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction. The article describes The Ohio State University Libraries Course Enhancement Grant Program and its positive impact on a subject librarian and ESL instructor teaching collaboratively in a composition course, with an analysis of students’ assessment of course objectives and outcomes.  相似文献

泛在图书馆意为无所不在的图书馆,是图书馆服务的泛在化,被认为是未来图书馆的重要型态和发展模式。从泛在图书馆的角度认识今天的图书馆服务,本文提出,必须从基于物理图书馆的传统服务,转变为基于用户的学科化服务。为此,学科化服务需要确立如下工作目标和工作重点:从图书馆的学科馆员到用户的学科馆员;从以利用图书馆为目标到以利用信息和知识为目标;从各自为战到协同工作;从信息中介到科研合作伙伴;从提供资源利用的指导到充当用户的信息环境顾问。  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This longitudinal pilot study developed and tested an instrument to assess students’ perceptions of the extent to which they accomplished the learning objectives that were listed in a number of communication course syllabi. In addition to students’ perceptions that they had improved from the start to the end of the semester in achieving course objectives, the findings revealed that students’ assessment was related positively to their ratings of professors’ teaching effectiveness. The instrument provides valuable information about students’ accomplishment of teachers’ course learning objectives.  相似文献

This article provides a case study of how the University of Nebraska College of Law and Schmid Law Library use “buttons” to manage Law College faculty members’ and librarians’ online presence. Since Google is the primary search engine used to find information, it is important that librarians and libraries assist Web site visitors in finding relevant information about faculty members at an academic institution. Easily identifiable buttons allow visitors to navigate to faculty scholarship in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Digital Commons, SSRN Web site, or both, in an academic service such as lessons from the Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction and in social software sites like Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn. The case study includes (1) how the project was implemented, (2) the feedback and results of a survey, and (3) an analysis of Web site statistics, clicks, and links data gathered via Google Analytics. This project was a partnership between the Law College Communications Department, Law College Administration, and the Law Library, involving law faculty, staff, and librarians. The buttons project was considered a successful venture by participating faculty members; it also provided an opportunity for face-to-face conversation between faculty members and librarians about digital scholarship and social media in the academic environment.  相似文献

The School of Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia Campus of Virginia Commonwealth University examined the 2005/2006 medical school curriculum to ensure that students were prepared to meet the informatics objectives put forward by the AAMC Medical School Objectives Project published in 1998. The AAMC Medical Informatics Objectives Survey, issued in 2005, led the VCU School of Medicine to investigate the points of integration between informatics objectives and course syllabi for the first three years of the medical school curriculum. This analysis raised awareness of the informatics objectives with SOM faculty and staff and showed that more than 74% of the informatics objectives have been integrated into the curriculum.  相似文献

In this article, guest writers Susan Bigelow and Dr Salome Brooks from Springfield College, Massachusetts, present an overview of their evaluative research study in which a faculty professor and the liaison librarian collaborated to develop an information literacy course entitled Physical Therapy (PT) and Health care Research Skills, in order to teach necessary information literacy skills to upper‐level undergraduate PT students. Triangulation of the Physical Therapy and Information Literacy standards in alignment with the course objectives strengthened the collaboration, course development and expectations of student performance. Electronic products have changed the number of options available for individualizing the acquisitions workflow. Individual preferences and cost-effectiveness determine the mix of print with electronic products for each selector, with some advantages of the electronic medium being desktop availability at each workstation, the ease of electronic transfer of bibliographic information for ordering, access to the latest ordering information available, electronic searching capability, and e-mail alerts. Some of the electronic products choices used at Saint Mary’s College, a small, liberal arts oriented college, are discussed briefly.  相似文献

北京孔庙和国子监博物馆现存明代进士题名碑77通,其中20通石碑的碑阴处刻有"试官题名",记载着殿试考官的信息。进士题名碑上的试官题名源自宋代,传承于元,结束于明中期,现存可见者均为明代碑刻。题名碑上的试官题名虽已有风化现象,但大多数考官信息仍可辨识,是非常珍贵的科举原始资料,将其与《登科录》比对,可填补永乐朝殿试考官信息。同时,两种材料亦可互相订正,纠正讹误,为研究明代考官制度提供更加准确的资料。  相似文献
