关于图书馆学研究方法的思考   总被引:10,自引:0,他引:10
Five problems should be emphatically probed and solved in the study of library audience research methods: 1) Distinguish the differences and connection between the research meth- ods and the working methods, 2) Probe into the System of library science research methods, 3) Know and apply accurately the methodology of system science, 4) Maintain a proper balance in the relationship between methods of quality and those of quantity, and 5.) Adopt a correct attitude towards and derive from the achievements in scientific research of related subjects.8 refs.  相似文献

Controlled Digital Lending(CDL) is a new model by which libraries digitize materials in their collection and make them available for controlled lending. CDL was initially introduced 10 years ago and has been developed quickly after 2020. This paper sorts out the concept and development of CDL, and divides the process of CDL into embryonic stage(2011-2017), exploratory stage(2018-2019) and development stage (2020 to present). In the embryonic stage, although there were related research and attempts, the specific concept of CDL had not been formed and the practice was not enough. In the exploratory stage, the concept and core principles of CDL had been defined and received plenty of attention in the American library community. During the development stage, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought opportunities for CDL to globalize, and CDL is supported by the library circle around the world. This paper analyzes the feasibility of CDL according to the relevant laws and regulations in the United States, Europe and the international community. In the United States, CDL is mainly based on the principle of first sale doctrine and fair use; in Europe, CDL is mainly related to relevant directives and copyright restrictions and exceptions; among the international community, CDL basically complies with the relevant provisions of the three-step test. This paper summarizes the status quo and specific operation mode of CDL practice abroad, in the hope of providing suggestions for the specific practice of CDL in Chinese university libraries. The authors sort out the official website documents of well-known foreign library organizations and CDL tool development institutions, summarize foreign practical cases of CDL, and analyze related application cases in foreign university libraries and CDL tool. This paper discusses the legal possibility of implementing CDL in China. A further review of relevant domestic laws has found that, although the Copyright Law of the People’s Republic of China only stipulates 12 acts that can use works without permission and remuneration, the court can still determine that the mode of CDL constitutes fair use based on the general provisions of the fair use in dealing with cases related to CDL. Lastly, this paper points out that China’s libraries, especially university libraries, shall limit the books types, reasonably apply CDL tools, actively cooperate with publisher, and build the platform of digital lending resources sharing to promote the digital services transformation of physical library in CDL way. 38 refs. © 2023, Editorial Office of Journal of Library Science in China. The Reading History of China, edited by Professor Wang Yuguang , was published by Anhui Educational Press at the end of 2017. This book is the first book on general history of reading in China and fills in the blank of the research field of reading history. The scientific research team headed by Professor Wang Yuguang has been working for many years to establish and improve the theoretical system of the study of Chinese reading history. Through translating and introducing the research achievements of foreign reading history compiling the compilation of reading historical materials and launching case studies they attempted to establish the theoretical system of Chinese reading history. This book is divided into ten volumes. The first volume is “Theory Volume". It discusses many theoretical issues in the study of reading history , including the research progress of reading history at home and abroad the research contents of Chinese reading history and reading culture the national era and regional characteristics of reading history and reading culture; the interaction between reading activities and text changes , social environment and education , social consciousness and religion , academic changes and other factors. China's long-standing reading culture and traditions were refined and summarized. Volume 10 is “the Record of Pictures", which compiles representative pictures related to reading activities in successive dynasties. Volumes 2 to 9 are divided into eleven relatively independent historical stages according to the development of reading history and the main characteristics of each period. On the basis of fully absorbing the theoretical research achievements of reading history at home and abroad and comprehensively grasping the research materials of reading history in China , the book puts forward the core view that reading is a universal social and cultural phenomenon. It holds that reading is not only an individual behavior , but also an important part of human civilized life. Therefore , the reader's reading behavior is inevitably affected by both internal and external factors and the study of reading history should be placed in the overall environment of social history. According to this idea , the book decomposes the internal and external factors affecting reading behavior one by one establishes a research system of Chinese reading history from the perspective of social culture and summarizes the research contents of Chinese reading history into three aspects and eight main topics 1 Discipline foundation and theoretical research , aiming at the construction of theoretical system and basic information; 2) External factors affecting reading , including the relationship between reading activities and text changes social environment and education social consciousness and religion academic and knowledge system , publishing and dissemination of environmental factors; 3) Internal factors affecting reading. It includes reader,s reading behavior , reading environment , reading content, reading concept , reading thought and theory and social reading tradition etc. which shape and influence the reading behavior. The writing of each sub-volume revolves around the above-mentioned framework , focusing on reflecting the characteristics of the times regions and nationalities in each stage of the history of reading. On this basis , the tradition and spirit of ancient Chinese reading are condensed into five aspects. Finally , combined with the compiling experience of The Reading History of China, some topics are put forward for further study such as the collection and publication of reading historical materials the methodology of reading history the contemporary value of research on reading history and reading culture the reading history of a region or ethnic group the study of reading population and the case study of representative readers. 12 refs. © 2019, Editorial Office of Journal of Library Science in China. 市场经济和图书馆服务   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The Library, while introducing ideas of market—directed economy, should have conscious-ness of demand, management and intense competition. We should change the saying"to collect isto be useful"into"to use is to be effective",like the enterprise that pursues perfect post sales ser-vice has done,to bring the library function of dissemination into full play so as to improve bene-fits to library administration.  相似文献

Is there such a thing as too much data? If not,who is going to be responsible for selecting what we keep? There is only starting to be a profession of data curation.Data curation will need at least three skills: expertise from library, archive and museum studies about choosing, preserving and explaining to users;expertise from computer science and engineering about data processing, data exploration and data storage methods;and expertise from the subject area of the material,so as to know what the data means, where it came from, and what its significance is.Will we do this work with a committee,or train one person to do everything;and if the latter,is that person likely to start from the library, computing,or subject domain?  相似文献

Borrowing From e-commerce; Are Recommender Systems Good for Libraries? For past 10 years recommender systems have attempted to match customers to materials in the e-commerce world. Utilizing specifically designed recommender systems to meet the needs of patrons, collaborative filtering, and content-based recommender systems are the two basic types with several hybrids created from these two have been significantly enhancing digital library services. Security issues come into play in a special way with libraries, and plagiarism can also affect recommender quality. Open Source tools may be the answer for libraries and their customers, enabling a better utilization of all that a library has to offer.  相似文献

Open Access and the Developing World   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Till about 15 years ago, almost all information exchange among scientists and scholars was mediated by print and even then researchers in the developing countries were at a great disadvantage as their libraries did not have the resources to subscribe in comparison with even a small fraction of journals libraries in advanced countries. But the Internet and the World Wide Web initially exacerbated the gap between the rich and the poor countries, as many poor countries were slow to acquire these technologies and the infrastructure (especially bandwidth). Soon it became clear that thanks to these technologies we now have the unprecedented opportunity of having a level playing field in the matter of accessing scientific and scholarly information. Transforming this opportunity into reality is entirely in the hands of the researchers themselves. Imagine a world where every scientist places his/ her research papers, which (s)he wants to give away so others can read and make use of, in a public archive. Anyone anywhere in the world, of course having an Internet connection, can access, download, and read those papers. This is a win-win situation for all: the reader gets to read what he wants to read at very little cost; the author gains greater visibility for his work and the work reported is likely to have greater impact than if it were to be made available only through a toll-access journal. Although the logic is so simple, in reality such archives were not coming up for a very long time. In spite of the fact that computer scientists and physicists had shown about 15 years ago the great advantages of such archives. Recent studies by Alma Swan and others have shown that a very large proportion of scientists are not aware of open access and therefore what we need is focused advocacy. Even among those who know of OA, many are not depositing their papers in archives but say they would if they are asked by their bosses or their funding agencies. Clearly the ball is in the court of scientists and policy makers. OA is especially advantageous to the developing countries as the current access to literatures is poorest in these countries.  相似文献
