Voices of children and parents from elsewhere: a glance at integration in Italian primary schools

This study involves 35 research participants: 20 immigrant parents (primarily mothers from South America, North Africa, Eastern Europe and the Middle East) and 15 primary school children, aged 10–11. These children were born outside Italy and primary school was their first encounter with the Italian educational system. We observed their processes of integration through their stories and those of their parents. Our investigation aims to identify factors that support or inhibit their school integration. We adopt an ecological research paradigm, proposing a vision of knowledge as rooted in natural life contexts, focusing on subjectivity. Analysis of the data led to identification of core categories concerning these families’ experiences and their children's encounters with Italian schools. This paper focuses on the children's perspectives of their experiences with school.  相似文献

Connecting Teacher Beliefs to the Use of Children’s Literature in the Teaching of Mathematics

This article presents examples that illustrate how teachers use childrens literature in the teaching of mathematics. The examples are related to four curriculum ideologies that have influenced mathematics education in the USA for the last 75 years. It discusses why it is relevant to help teachers understand the ideological positions that influence their use of childrens literature during mathematics instruction, summarizes the four ideological positions, and presents results of a study of how teachers ideological positions relate to their use of childrens literature in the teaching of mathematics. The study examines two research questionsCan an instructional tool be developed that will highlight for teachers the different ways in which they and others use childrens literature to teach mathematics? and Can that instructional tool stimulate teacher discussion and reflection about their own beliefs and the ideological nature of the instructional environment in which they learned (as students) and teach (as teachers)? This study assesses the current and ideal levelsof academic and social integration within the University of PapuaNew Guinea as perceived by the students. In order to reducestudent attrition through developing an appropriate attritionpolicy and improving services, a comprehensive picture of thecurrent and ideal academic and social integration climate in theUniversity of Papua New Guinea was necessary. Previousattrition/retention research has not adequately described thevarying degrees of group differences in students' integrationprocess. Using the Tinto model and research instruments thatoperationalised the model, an institutional academic and socialintegration assessment instrument was developed for measuring theperceived current and ideal integration climate. Respondent'sperceived ideal ratings for 24 items representing five dimensionsof academic and social integration were higher than for thecurrent ratings. Significant differences were found between thecurrent and ideal perceptions of student groups in respect of a)students' informal contact with faculty; b) faculty concern forstudents' development and teaching and c) extra curricularactivities. Differences were found between the perceived ratingsof student groups on the basis of year of studies. Implicationsfor policy directives and discriminatory service delivery arealso discussed.  相似文献   

高等职业教育产教融合政策的实践样态与优化逻辑

基于对1985年至2019年政策文本的分析,可将我国高职产教融合政策实践样态演进历程划分为以校办企业与校企联合办学为纽带的初步探索期、以工学结合为抓手的人才培养模式变革调整期、以各类项目为依托的产教融合全方位深化期、以各层次产教融合政策为基石的政策体系建设期。对德国、澳大利亚、英国等国家横向比较可以发现,国外产教融合政策实践的成功经验可以为我国产教融合政策的完善提供有益启示。为消解我国高职产教融合政策在实践过程中存在的政策时效性欠佳、针对性不高、政策体系不完善等困境,在政策制定环节,应多方借鉴,科学制定;在政策执行环节,应高效执行,全面贯彻;在政策评估环节,应定期监测,有效评估;在政策修订环节,应及时反馈,适时修订。  相似文献

摘 要:研究采用问卷法,对我国西北多民族聚居地区少数民族大学生进行调查研究,主要探讨双文化认同整合对创造力的影响以及人格开放性的调节作用。结果表明:双文化认同整合的和谐-冲突维度能显著正向预测创造力,但混合-区分维度对创造力预测不显著;人格开放性在双文化认同整合的和谐-冲突维度与创造力的新颖性之间起到调节作用,即对于人格开放性高的个体而言,无论其双文化认同整合的程度高低,个体都表现出较高的创造力;但对于低人格开放性个体来说,随着双文化认同整合程度的提高,其创造力的新颖性也随之提高。本研究说明,双文化个体对两种文化认同整合良好时有助于提高创造力,且人格开放性调节二者之间的关系。在实践中,可以从二元文化的认同整合视角和人格开放性的培养方面提升少数民族的创造力。  相似文献
